So, the Grand Opening for the hotel finally came. It was a great event. The people in the picture include people from the Chamber of Commerce, two of the owners, Joseph (the GM) and myself. It was truly a lot of fun to plan and organize. I would like to say that I got a lot of help, but really I was flying solo.
Each person that entered the hotel got a passport. The passport told a little about the hotel, had a welcome from the GM, instructed guests to visit 3 indicated areas of the hotel to receive a stamp, and finally once they got all the stamps they could be entered into the raffle. The grand prize was a two-night stay, second was a one-night stay and dinner at Da Pineapple Grill, and third was an iPod shuffle with the SpringHill Suites logo engraved on it. We had orange sherbet and sour blueberry jelly bellies (which matched the hotel's color scheme) for each of the guests. There were root beer floats and sushi from Da Pineapple Grill provided for all.
The local radio station was there and I was interviewed twice. There were also other dignitaries there from BYU-Idaho and other local businesses.
Overall, it was a lot of fun and I think we had about 200+ people move through during it.
